Job Title: Plumbing Superintendent Commercial Mechanical Contracting

Location: DFW Metroplex, TX (On-site)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: $30.00 - $50.00 hourly

Role Overview

The Plumbing Superintendent directs all field operations for commercial plumbing systems on large-scale projects, including domestic water, sanitary, storm drainage, and medical gas installations. The role spans mission-critical environments such as hospitals, data centers, and high-rise commercial buildings.

The position requires strong field knowledge in plumbing system layout, code compliance, and crew leadership, with the ability to coordinate safely and efficiently across HVAC, piping, and sheet metal trades while maintaining consistent focus on quality, productivity, and project performance.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise plumbing crews installing domestic water, sanitary, storm, and medical gas systems
  • Enforce safety standards across all plumbing operations, including pressure testing and confined-space work
  • Interpret and apply plumbing shop drawings, submittals, and coordination drawings
  • Supervise hydrostatic and pressure testing along with quality inspections
  • Coordinate with piping, HVAC, and sheet metal trades to align scopes and schedules
  • Manage material deliveries, prefabrication planning, and site logistics
  • Prepare daily reports, manpower documentation, and as-built records
  • Mentor journeymen and apprentices to improve productivity, technical skill, and teamwork
  • Participate in site meetings with general contractors and project managers

Required Background

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship as sponsorship is not available for this position
  • 5+ years of commercial plumbing field experience with supervisory responsibilities; commercial mechanical subcontracting backgrounds preferred
  • Hands-on knowledge of plumbing systems including domestic water, sanitary, storm drainage, and medical gas
  • Texas Master Plumber license required (Responsible Master Plumber designation strongly preferred)
  • Texas Medical Gas endorsement preferred
  • OSHA 10 certification required; OSHA 30 preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret plumbing shop drawings, isometrics, and mechanical coordination layouts
  • Ability to meet physical demands including lifting, working at heights, and confined spaces
  • Valid driver's license with ability to pass background, drug, and MVR screenings
  • Hospital, data center, or high-rise project experience strongly preferred
  • ASSE 6010 brazer certification preferred; ASSE 6020/6030 medical gas inspector/installer credentials a plus
  • Familiarity with construction software such as Procore or Bluebeam preferred
  • Experience with prefabrication planning and BIM coordination preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
